Vijaya Thakur, MD, F.A.C.P., RVS, Member American College of Phlebology

Dr. Vijaya Thakur holds board certification in internal medicine. Licensed by both the Medical Board of California and the Drug Enforcement Agency, she has run a private practice since 2004. Prior to that, she was a hospitalist providing in-patient care to medical and critical care patients with the Inpatients Physicians Network of Colorado and a physician at Kaiser Permanente in Orange County. She is affiliated with Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. She is currently a member of the American College of Phlebology.

Vijaya Thakur completed her undergraduate degree in Patna, India; she then earned her Doctorate in Medicine from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Karnataka, India. Dr. Thakur did postgraduate research at the California Institute of Technology and USC and then went on to do her residency in internal medicine at the USC County Medical Center (USC-LAC).

Dr. Vijaya Thakur was recognized for academic distinction in medical school and won a research grant from the National Association of Family Welfare in India along with a research prize from the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals. Vijaya Thakur is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the Stanislaus Medical Society. She previously chaired the Medicine/ICU/Infection Control Committee at Emanuel Medical Center and served on the Physician Well-Being Committee and the Medical Executive Committee there as well.

Resident Research Prize for work on Sonic Hedgehog in a model of fetal alcohol syndrome.
