Anjani Thakur, MD, F.A.C.S.,

Dr. Anjani Thakur is board-certified in general surgery. He completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry in the University of California system, where he was the recipient of an Honors Program Scholarship. He then went on to Georgetown University to earn his medical degree before returning to UCLA, first as an intern and then as a resident in general surgery, eventually reaching the level of Chief Resident. He was also a postdoctoral scholar in the Division of Developmental Biology. He is currently a member of the American College of Phlebology.

Anjani Thakur participated in a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Denver and then focused on general surgery, including upper and lower endoscopy, trauma surgery, critical care, and open and laparoscopic surgery. He continued in the practice of general surgery at Emanuel Medical Center, where he is currently on staff with privileges at numerous surrounding area hospitals and surgery centers including Mercy Hospital (Merced), Stanislaus Surgical Center (Modesto), Tower Surgical Center (Turlock), Memorial Medical Center (Modesto), and Doctors Medical Center (Modesto).

Dr. Anjani Thakur has received numerous professional awards and research grants, and has served as lead author or co-author on many articles published in scholarly publications.

He holds current or past memberships in a range of professional organizes including the American College of Surgeons, the UCLA Medical School Admissions Committee, the UCLA Surgical Education Committee, the Associate of Academic Surgeons (candidate member), the American Medical Association, and Doctors of the World.

Dr. Thakur is licensed to practice medicine in California, Colorado and Arizona.
